For the first post in the SEO category on this blog, I am going to talk about a less known aspect of Google Search Results. I personally called it the Google Popularity Effect but other SEO experts might name it differently.
Most of you want your articles to be listed on the top 3 results in Google for a particular search term. You must have noticed that very often the rank at which your page is listed changes over time. There are many factors that affect this result positioning in Google.
However there is a very less talked factor that plays a huge role in promoting your article further up the listing on Google Search results. As I said, I call it the Google Popularity Effect. In simple words, the more people who click on your article on Google results, the more value it gets in the eyes of Google.
Recently I noticed a drastic change over one article I had written months ago on my other blog. The article was listed at around 8th to 9th position for about 3 months. So, at the start of this year while I was optimizing my best articles for SEO, I decided to slightly change the Title of that article. I changed it so that it becomes a more catchy title and which will grab the attention of Googlers.
It worked! Even though the article was listed on the 8th position, many people searching for that keyword started to click on the article link. The re-arranged title was grabbing the attention of people searching on Google even though there were 7 results before mine.
After some days, as more people clicked on the article, I noticed that Google was now listing it at position 5. About one week later, the same article was listed on position 2 and is still maintaining this position right now. So what happened? The fact is that Google results update its listing based on what people are preferring.
So each time someone clicks on your article in the search results, it is like you are getting an additional vote of trust. The more people click on your listed article, the better you rank. And to make people click on your article, you need to have a spicy title and content that adds value.
However do note that this is NOT THE ONLY factor which affects Google search results but this one works!

Hmm..easy and simple tip. I think uniqueness works like a charm.
We can add the fact that an article must be developed around a certain keyword first if we want it to rank on that keyword. Optimising it will then be easier.
