The A to Z of How to Choose a Reliable Web Host For Your Blog

5 tips for a busy blogger

I have been really busy since the last 4 weeks. Being busy is part of a blogger’s life too and most of the time, it is the blog which suffers more. So I thought of writing about what you can do if you are going to be busy for a predefined amount of time.

I had some exams and could not update my primary blog at the usual rate. On a high traffic blog, decrease in fresh content also means decrease in traffic. While, already published content, will for sure bring traffic, the daily traffic will however go on a decreasing trend or be stable on a daily average.

When you run a blog, the aim is to always do better by bringing more people to read and also adding fresh content so that the blog does not lose the Search Engine Crawl priority factor. So, you will be busy and will not be able to update the regular 5 posts a day but you can still keep adding fresh content. Let’s see how.

1. Preparing Scheduled Posts

WordPress allows you to write a post and even scheduled it for future publishing. So if you know you are going to be busy for some days, you can always prepare some posts in advance and schedule them to be publish on predefined days.

This method is better if your blog’s articles do not depend upon the current news or trends and also if you normally publish upto 2 articles a day.

2. Hiring a part time paid writer

I am sure you must be thinking that it is expensive to hire a paid writer but the truth is that you do not need a pro-blogger to do your work while you are away. A pro-blogger or a professional writer will demand a lot of money to do the work but you can always find some people looking for writing jobs at affordable prices on Freelancer.com.

During the last 4 weeks I was quite busy with a University project as well as some minor exams. So I hired 3 guys from Freelancer.com to work on my blog. The work was quite amazing but you need to be careful when choosing writers. Always choose someone who has a rating from previous employers. You will find many trolls on Freelancing sites but there are good staffs too.

Of course this method is more suitable for blogs which publish more than 3 articles a day. It is not really recommendable for a new blog to hire paid writers.

Tips: Always prepare a list of needed articles and give to your writers instead of letting them choose their own titles.

3. Ask a friend to update your blog

If you are a new blogger, you will obviously not want to hire paid part time writers. In such a case you can always ask a friend or partner to write some articles for you. While I was busy during the last few weeks, my girlfriend was also helping to maintain a constant flow of original articles on my site.

4. Guest Articles Of Course!

If your blog is quite popular, you can contact all your blogging friends and ask them to contribute one or two articles each. These will obviously be guest articles and as a reward you can link back to their blog or even use a revenue sharing factor (Eg Adsense ads).

5. Micro-Blog Things

No I am not asking you to tweet! If you are really busy, you can temporarily opt for micro-blogging to keep the blog active. By Micro Blogging I mean, you can write short 3 to 4 lines posts and linking to major articles on other blogs. Your readers will find it useful that you are sharing a worth-a-read article to them while you are busy.

On the other hand, you also get trackback links while sharing useful content link on your blog. (Cautious: Don’t over-do it. Only link to an article or resource page which you think is really useful).

Well these are 5 little tips to being a busy blogger. Want to add more? Let me know in the comment section. What do you normally do when you are busy?

Some nice tips you listed. I have opened my blog for revenue sharing and the responsse has been good.

I had a list once with ideas on posts, but somehow I misplaced it. I wish I could find it as there were many great ideas that I could use now. As for a paid writer, I have not got a huge budget for that. Would love to if the cash was flooding in, lol.
